When the motor drives the impeller to rotate, the blades force fluid to rotate, increasing its pressure, potential energy, and kinetic energy. Because abrasive particles in the slurry can produce high-speed scour on the wetted parts of a pump, they are more prone to wear, resulting in an increased risk of damage due to friction and corrosion. If the correct materials are not selected for a production process, this can take place in mere days.
